For my beginner saxophone students we will start by assembling the instrument and using the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements to learn the basic fingerings and songs. As for my beginner piano students we will start off with the Faber Piano Adventures book and work our way through the lessons. My passion for the guitar grew exponentially when I started getting better at it. I recieved only a few lessons from private intructors before I went to college and learn how to 'really' play the guitar. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I have been teaching private voice since 1991.  Along with teaching privately out of my home, over the years I have served on faculty as an adjunct voice professor at the college and university level, and have taught private voice in school districts for their junior high and high school choirs.  My own children study with me and are performing regularly in musical theater productions and choirs.  I love helping singers discover their beautiful, God-given singing voice and watching it blossom as they consistently practice and apply the techniques. I focus on indvidualizing the lesson to the student. Every student has different goals, dreams, and personalities. I typically use the Faber Books for piano, Hal Leonard for guitar and ukulele, and I work in sight-reading with my voice students. I also work in music theory when appropriate, and enjoy explaining the "why" behind how music works. I'm also a singer-songwriter and have tunes on Spotify Apple Music. Marcela started teaching violin and viola when she was 18 years of age at Cartago's School of Music and the University of Costa Rica. Later on she created her private studio when she arrived in Texas in 2007 after finishing her music studies, which she continues to do until the present day . She has made a difference with her students through the years: from helping them to improve their playing, to preparing them for auditions, enabling them to join orchestras, ensembles, and even prepare them for being accepted into music programs at major universities.
