Hello! My name is Nic, and I'd like to be your student's next piano instructor! I'm a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Go Huskers!), although I hail from Minnesota originally. Over the last several years, I've been instructing students on piano and performing at outside engagements for clients. For beginning and intermediate students, I offer my own rudiment book to start learning on a practice pad or snare drum. For learning drum set, I use a variety of books and resources. I will meet and discuss these options with each student to find the right book for them. For more advanced students, I have them transcribe entire songs from bands they enjoy. I love singing! I feel so lucky to have performed for some of the greatest singers of our time: Rene Elise Goldsberry (Broadway), Jennifer Rowley (Metropolitan Opera), Kristine Opolais (Met), Ailyn Perz (Met), and Lisette Oropesa (Met). I have also performed in venues and companies all over the world: Thailand, Hawaii, Italy, and Austria. I've been blessed to have a very diverse variety of music and teaching job experiences. I began teaching private lessons as a Middle School Music Mentor with the Lied Center for Performing arts for LPS students my first year of University. Since then, I've also worked as a Visual and Music Tech for Lincoln High School's marching band, judged the Links Marching Band Contest, worked as a substitute Para Educator in Special Education in the middle, high school, and vocational school settings, and was the Music Director for the 2014 Penguin Project production of Annie Jr., the winner of a Mayor's Arts Award for that year. I have performed in all kinds of groups including jazz bands, wind ensembles, latin groups, and even choirs. I grew up in Cozad, Nebraska which is a small town, but I was influenced by so many kinds of music given this age of technology.
