Through college I have given lessons to those around me fascinated by the bass and how to play as more than just a typical bass. All of these students were either teenagers, or in there early 20's, but I am open to teaching children as well. Most of my lessons revolved around slap, harmonic, and chordal techniques, like those showcased by Les Claypool Victor Wooten, and Jaco Pastorius. For example, voice lessons for a child ages 6-9 would include basic pitch matching, breath control, and memorization techniques. Voice lessons for an older learner would still require basics such as pitch matching and breath control, but would also allow for more advanced skills such as aural harmonization. For beginner students or children, I typically start with bastien piano basic books and work our way through the books and fundamentals of music. Once they are ready, I will begin to introduce music they are more interested in and prepare for recitals or performance. For adults, I tend to gauge their interest levels and see what they want to accomplish through their lessons.
