Instruments: Piano Voice
I began teaching private voice and piano lessons in 2010 while pursing my undergraduate degree, immediately recognizing the joy of helping develop a passion for music within any willing student. I have since continued to teach students of all ages, styles, and experience levels at a studio location, in student's homes, and in music schools. Since I began teaching, I've been most surprised by how much a musical education benefits any student in many aspects of life, whether that be in school, work, or other creative outlets. Read More
Instruments: Flute Music
I have been playing the flute for more than 40 years. I began teaching in-person private flute lessons in 2006 and quickly developed a love for inspiring others to develop their musical talents. By focusing on a student's strengths and passions first, I am able to draw out the inner genius that each individual possesses inside and tap into that energy to fuel their success. I always start with the classics, because I believe that it creates the strongest foundation upon which to build skills. Read More
Instruments: Violin Viola
For beginning students who are children, I typically begin by introducing them to the various parts of the instrument, along with the basics of technique and position. New notes and concepts would be introduced through learning familiar songs and pieces. All parents are encouraged to attend their child's violin lessons so that they can aid practice sessions. For adults, I try to find out what the student is most interested in learning, and devise a plan with the student accordingly in order to keep the lessons engaging and fun. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
I am very flexible on my teaching methods. My methods really differ for each student and their needs and wants. It is important to teach 10 year olds and 30 year olds differently! I like to make the trumpet fun, because that is what music is all about right? For beginners we might work on songs they may know and find fun and can tell their friends about at school. For adults I would do the same but make it more difficult and go further into what they may want to learn. Read More

I have been teaching for 8 years, getting my start in my home town of Nyack, NY teaching jazz combos and private lessons at the Nyack Summer Music Camp. Since then, I taught private lessons to students of all abilities at Oberlin for 5 years, I was a staff teacher at the Avon School of Music in Avon, Ohio, I was a music instructor and counselor at Camp Encore/Coda in Maine, as well as other camps more local to NY, and I am currently an employee of the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance, where I am teaching music to kids at P.S 246. I believe the ultimate goal of music education is to not create perfect musicians but to help our children, our neighbors, and our community have a greater understanding of the world around them. To help them see how they connect with music and each other. If a love for music is fostered as well then I am thrilled. But my main role is to teach all of my students and not simply cater towards the privileged, and talented. Read More
Instruments: Voice Violin Electric Violin Music
For all of my students, I let them pick a song (vocal) or piece (violin) that they would like to sing or play. This way I can analyze what level they are on. For my voice students, I start with vocal warm-up exercises of the different vowels. It helps me to understand their range as well as tone of voice. For my violin students, I usually stick with the Suzuki Method, or Essential Elements books, if they are in the more beginning stages. Read More
