I use a mix of books (note reading), ear training, and musical games (depending on age) in lessons. I like to offer students a variety of learning styles, in order to find the one that best suits them. I've met a lot of people over the years who started to learn the guitar but, gave it up because they lost interest or didn't think they were making progress.
