My teaching experience dates back to my before my college days. By the time I was finishing high school, I had already graduated from a 4 year music program, and I was already teaching students of all ages. I began teaching private lessons part time 13 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students for the last 4 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. My teaching started in the final years of high-school. I started teaching trumpet to kids. Once I started college in Buenos Aires(Argentina) in a music composition degree I worked with several masters in a multitude of instruments(violin, flute, trumpet, guitar) which i was able to start teaching and performing live. At the same time I developed a craving for movement practice and martial arts. Every student starts or resumes classes at different levels. My job is to recognize that level and proceed accordingly. I like my students to be able to learn and progress at the rate they can or want to. Letting students let you know what they want to learn and at what pace, helps the student as well as the teacher in that progress. first i ask what the student desires to learn . what type of music etc. once i have taught a few songs i ask the student to write a list of songs that they would like to learn. i teach how to find the key that the student sings in and how to transpose the song into that key. if the student does not wish to sing i teach them how the instrument of their choice works . again regardless of the instrument i usually am able to teach a student two songs in an hour lesson . one in four four timing and one in three four timing . there is nothing better than to see the light come on in a students face and see the confidence of ' i can do this !
