My lessons can be catered to fit the style of music the student wishes to pursue, whether it be rock, jazz, heavy metal, classical, pop, etc. I work with students to find out what kind of music they are interested in pursuing and what their goals are. I focus on starting to play music quickly, and the student learns the theory and technique as we go. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Often there are students with previous instructors and I have no trouble picking up where the student left off. I can recommend books or a series as well as supplemental skills practice books.
