Lessons are built around the student and incoproate artists/music the student enjoys and wants to play. Lessons remain fun while still learning sight reading, theory, technique, etc. Guitar, Voice, Bass, Beginner Piano, Songwriting/Composition, Music Theory
My lessons usually follow the following steps: Presentation of material - Instruction - Practice - Performance. In a typical lesson, we may take a look at a piece of music through an audio or video recording. After we listen and/or watch, we discuss and examine the music. For example, this could be as simple as saying, What do think about this part? It could also be more in depth - What's the time signature? Next, we focus on a specific part to learn. The student learns by watching demonstrations, making attempts at playing it, and listening to suggestions and instruction. Just as there are many ways to teach there are also many ways to learn. I try to incorporate as many different methods as possible while being mindful of different learning styles to ensure that the student is successful. Finally, when the student has become sufficiently proficient on a piece of music, we'll play it together as a team. Sometimes, I accompany a vocalist on guitar to get a pop/rock feel. For my guitar or bass students, I trade between lead and accompany roles. I may bring other accompanying instruments to the lesson for a different vibe. The idea is to have fun playing music, and I like to have fun.
In regards to lessons it is my intention to first and fore most understand the student, what they want to learn, and why they want to learn it. -I have a strong understanding of music theory which is something I would like to pass on to my students. -I apply technique for getting comfortable with the instrument, as well as theory to understand the ins and outs of the instrument. I then apply all of that to the style of the student while introducing similar material the student might not know of.
Hello! My name is Eric, and I'm a multi-instrumentalist with the deepest history on trumpet. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, taking private lessons that I continued through high school with several wonderful teachers. I began playing in ensembles at the age of 9. I began playing the bass at 15, drums at 17, and guitar at 19. I now perform on all instruments. I’ve been very fortunate to play and perform in a wide number and variety of ensembles over the years. Since moving to Philadelphia in February of 2016, I’ve been excited to do as much teaching as I can. Looking forward to working with you!
I encourage people to do their best as well as go at their own pace. I set goals, If they exceed those goals in a week or 2 months, It doesn't matter, as long as they are trying their best. I make up games for the little ones, such as, having them to do online games involving music. For older students I try to still involve fun activities such as teaching them their favorite songs. I also, use Guitar Pro in order to teach those said songs and tab it out for them. I will either print it off or email it to them in either PDF or Guitar Pro files

The earliest recommended age that students can start their guitar lessons is 6 years old. At this age, students will find it easiest to play a half-sized classical guitar with nylon strings, and will learn how to play simple melodies on the top strings of the guitar. Students can begin to form chords, as well as play and sing along to songs, by about ages 7 to 8. When students get to the ages of 10-12, they should be able to comfortably handle a full-sized guitar. At this point, they may acquire a taste for rock music and want to progress to the electric guitar.
Musika deals primarily with home lessons for students. The location is the only difference between our in-home lessons and our studio lessons. As they do not have to travel to their lessons, home guitar lessons can be highly convenient for those parents and students with a busy schedule. For younger students in particular, having guitar lessons in the comfort of their own home can be of great benefit. They will feel more safe and relaxed in familiar surroundings, allowing them to focus on learning and enjoying playing the guitar.
Young students are advised to start off by learning to play on a half sized or three-quarter sized acoustic guitar. Older students may wish to start on an electric guitar, as long as they can hold the guitar comfortably and competently. There are many different student model guitars, which will set you back $150 - $200. This does not include the price for cables and an amplifier, which will be a necessary purchase for electric guitar players. Higher quality instruments are often easier to play, which provides the student a greater chance to enjoy their learning.
For students looking to start learning to play the guitar, we recommend that you do so with a specific goal in mind. This goal may be to learn to play your favorite song, learn to write music, or brush up on your current skills. Whatever your goals may be, the experienced teachers in our network can help you achieve them with their expert knowledge. For beginners, learning to co-ordinate the various new techniques you will be learning can take time, usually a few months. To maximize your progression, there is no better way than regular lessons and practice.
At Musika, the teachers in our network create lesson plans that are specifically customized to meet the needs of each individual student. These experienced teachers can develop the skills of a complete beginner, or help to take an advanced players skills to the next level. Students can expect to learn such things as how to correctly hold the guitar, learning the notes on the fret board, and how to tune their instrument. Students will also learn techniques such as fretting, fingering and strumming, and will learn to play various scales and chords, such as open chords, power chords, and barre chords. They will learn how to combine these elements of guitar playing to create or cover complete compositions, as well as learning music theory and how to read music. Last but not least, teachers will help students to realize the joys and fun that learning to play the guitar can bring!

Eduard is an amazing teacher. (Coming from someone who previously knew the basics of playing and music.) He is not to harsh with his words and is extremely nice. Eduard has a great amout of experience and displays it through his teachings. Specifically by making it easy to follow along with his words to actions. As a person with a wondering mind whom is distracted easily, it is easy to pay attention.

Karleen has really turned it around for me. My previous teacher (not from Musika) had me feeling anxious, upset, and incapable...NOT the desired result! Karleen's method is clear, appropriate for my beginning level, and (best of all) actually lets me achieve some progress! I'm actually looking forward to my lessons now!

I had always wanted to take vocal lessons, but was very nervous about it until I had the opportunity to have Ali as my instructor. She made me feel very comfortable and helped me realize my strengths while giving me other areas to work on and strengthen. I liked how Ali had me sing out of my "comfort" zone to realize my vocal range. It is obvious that Ali loves music and sharing that love with her students. She is very good at what she does and works well with both male and female voices. I highly recommend Ali and give her solid 5 stars

Amber is personal and cares about her students. She is flexible in her schedule and maintains a professional attitude in her lessons. Her want for her students to succeed makes her excel as a teacher. She is very knowledgeable about music and extremely experienced. Additionally, she includes external activities aside from lessons for the students who wish to advance themselves externally. Really a great teacher who offers great opportunity.

Bill has been a great teacher for both my 6 yr. old and my 8 yr. old. He is always on time, keeps them engaged, and gives them just enough of a challenge for the next week. They are both beginners, but I am surprised by how much they already know after just a month or so of lessons. Both kids are practicing willingly and look forward to lesson.

Darrell is A-Maz-Ing! He demands results from his students and therefore results come quickly. The time he spends teaching is intense and packed with great instruction. He is a tough teacher but offers lots of valuable instruction that is applicable for music as well as life in general. I highly recommend Darrell if you are ready for results!

My son is truly enjoying his lessons with Chris. He looks forward to them and is motivated to practice. Chris is conscientious and shows up on time and whenever he is supposed to. He communicates clearly if rescheduling is ever required and is accommodating when we need to change the day. I would recommend Chris to anyone.

“Lynn has taught my daughter guitar for 9 years. She has always managed to keep her engaged and provide an exceptional learning experience. She tailors the lesson specifically to the student’s interests and abilities. She provides many opportunities for students to showcase their talents outside of lessons. We love working with Lynn.” Maureen Young, Dir. of Finance, Aug 2015

Jessie is the finest musician I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I find her overall concept of approaching an instrument to be both comprehensive and effective. Each technique she has acquired has made it possible for her to tailor her method to a variety of ages and individuals. I cannot speak more highly of Miss Jessie's abilities. Her lengthy and impressive cradecials speak for themselves. I recommend no hesitation in seeking her services!
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
