I have experience teaching from the beginner to the collegiate level. I teach technique, songwriting, theory lessons, or any style the student prefers. Each lesson is specifically tailored to a student's individual needs and musical desires. I teach an effective practice routine involving a metronome and egg timer to promote good habits. This serves a dual purpose in measuring both time and technical progress. Further, it gives beginner students the ability to develop good habits early. Read More

The basis of my teaching style is transparency. My aim is to be as clear as possible about what I expect from my students, and how they can improve. I believe great technique is the proper foundation for any musician, and I will always give the students exercises along with songs that will help my students to develop proper technique. Most of all, I try to make sure that my students have fun. Music is supposed to be fun, so maintaining a sense of humor is a good thing in my opinion. Read More

I love seeing my students excited about music. I like students to bring in music they feel passionate about so we can break it down and start to understand what makes it work. I find it important to set goals, adjust goals when things arent working and celebrate them when they are. Because of the great instruction I have had in my life, I understand the importance of being a teacher. Read More

I will continually focus on vowel-forming exercises and funneling the singing air through the nasal cavity and middle of the face. This way, the student will understand how to produce a big sound without straining. Breathing exercises such as 'underwater noises' and 'tornado siren' are fun and keep the mood open and lively. I want to create an atmosphere that lets the student feel strong enough to test their limits. Read More

I am a motivated instructor who loves working with people who love music. I have been a performing musician since I was a child, growing up in a musical family in New Mexico. I have since traveled the US performing many different kinds of music. I currently perform in an Irish and Classic Rock band all over the South Side of Chicago. I studied music and marched in the marching band at New Mexico State University. Read More
