I prefer an individualized, tailored teaching method. Your passion and interest should inspire your learning. I see my job as then taking that passion and working to grow and develop it through specifically designed lessons and practice routines, personalized to you as the student. I strongly believe the most important aspect of learning is fostering a love for your instrument. Utilizing my strong background in theory and performance, I focus on various elements of instrumentation and technique combined with a foundation in theory to produce well-rounded, capable musicians. My teaching style is a little eclectic. I like explaining everything I do because students should know why they're doing certain things. I work with each student to figure out why they're taking voice lessons and figure out accomplishments that they want to achieve. I'm tired of voice teachers only teaching classical music, especially when a student says they want something different. Classical music is important, especially in the music sphere, but singing and playing are not all about that. Read More

If they want to specialize in a certain area I use additional backup materials. I also encouraged my students to be involved in performances and recitals that give them opportunity to utilize their skills. Particularly playing in church is a great outlet for many of my students. I have about 30 years of teaching experience, 20 of which have been full time. I have several endorsements and referrals available if needed. My students' range from hobbyist to career focused. I began helping my friends work through their music when I was 19 at Missouri Western State University, and eventually cultivated a bustling studio of students through word of mouth. I now teach full time in Zoom and in person with house visits, or at my home studio. My students regularly perform very well at state competitions, form bands of their own, and have found great cause in writing their own music outside of academia. Read More

Not only did I learn about midi and music industry standards, I also had the opportunity to work with really amazing artists. One of my professors Mike Lacopelli was the recording engineer for Parliament as well as ran live sound for Aretha Franklin for 8 years. Later in my college career I began playing synthesizer with a band and working for Delta States Studio. I also worked in their computer lab teaching music software programs to newer students; the software programs included: Logic, Pro Tools and Garage Band. Read More

I am primarily an electric guitarist who has a fascination with composing/producing original music of a wide variety of styles. I was born into a musical family; I began taking classical lessons on piano at age six, and later upright bass at eight (guitar being a venture on my own accord that began somewhere in between). Though I consider guitar to be my main instrument, double bass allowed me to achieve considerable success in my high school years. Read More

Everything in lessons depends on where a student is the moment we start, and his or her passions and interests in various styles. I have heard so many times in the past that students will quit an instrument early in life because they were unmotivated in boring lessons, only to later regret the decision to quit. It is imperative to me that students become self-motivated to practice and enjoy it as much as possible. Read More
