I taught group guitar lessons to camp students. To me it is very important to balance the technical and creative aspects of development. No matter what age/skill level I split time during lessons into activities that develop technique and language, and compositional, creative activities that help each student explore their instrument and what they have to say with it. This balance can be altered depending on the interests of the student or parent. Outside of teaching, I perform with the bluegrass band Mad Dogg and the Strays and the accordion & guitar duo Everything but the Polka. I’ve also written music for short films, theater productions, and comedy projects. As a teacher, my goal is to meet you where you are and build lessons that match your learning style and interests. After high school, I embarked on a collegiate musical journey, which led me to stays at Columbia College in Chicago, Bowling Green State University (where I received a full tuition scholarship) and Wayne State University.
