One of my biggest achievements was playing at a concert at Steinmetz College Prep high school. I would get the whole crowd's attention with my piano playing.I would take my opportunity serious and implement anything I will be asked to do. I want to inspire others throughout my music lessons. I discovered I had this talent when I was 15, and would always play the guitar everyday when it comes with playing chords, and being part of a christian group that inspired me. Read More

I start my students with a single lesson where I gain a knowledge about the student's musical abilities and personality. I don't generally start with a single method book, because I believe that in individual lessons, the methods used should be tailored to fit the student. I will pull from Essential Elements, Accent on Achievement, and Standard of Excellence, as well as writing and devising my own warm ups and methods. Read More

My teaching style is very specialized. As a guitar teacher, I started teaching group classes as a volunteer when I was a teenager. Eventually I started teaching guitar to fellow classmates. At this point I was already playing guitar for seven years. In my late teens I began to teach at a few highly regarded music shoppes in Chicago. Soon after, I was a faculty member at the world famous OldTown School of Folk Music teaching beginner and intermediate group classes and advanced classical guitar and chord chemistry classes as well. For younger students I try to focus on simpler concepts and to revisit lessons to help solidfy the material until they feel comfortable progressing. Familiarity with material before it's necessary for application I feel is also a good approach. I currently study using the guidance of University of West London's curriculum for practical knowledge as well as theory and my lessons are geared towards mastering the instrument and not just learning songs. My approach is definitely supportive and positive, but I don't let that get in the way of challenging the student. I am not afraid to tell the student that they can do better. It's very important to get to know the student's goals and inspirations. That way, I can focus on the skills they need. Also, I like to let the student learn songs by artists they love (if applicable) because it motivates them and sometimes it ends up being the sound they want to go for anyway. Read More
