I am a laid back instructor that knows when the setting is right to encourage the student by leading them in the right direction to achieve their specific and unique goals. Each student is different and what works for one will not always work for another. By reminding the beginning student that we are all human and even the best musicians have started as complete amateurs, they can feel more comfortable making mistakes freely, that are bound to happen without feeling self-conscious. I'm pretty laidback and like to make the student feel comfortable. If given the opportunity I can definitely launch into some pretty passionate talks about music , to really reach out and teach my students some really cool things. At the same time though, i don't like to bore any student with certain topics if they aren't ready and willing to learn these things. It really depends on the student. I like to encourage playing or jamming in the lessons as well so that we can apply different things we are learning to actual music. Read More

My teaching began in high school when my history teacher asked if I'd give his son guitar lessons. I had so much fun that after I graduated college in 2016, I immediately began teaching again! What began as a part time teaching schedule quickly blossomed into 60+ students per week, teaching at two private music schools in the Providence, RI, area. One of the best aspects of teaching is connecting with my students, and watching reach that "ah-ha!" moment in the lesson where they reach their first milestone. Read More

I try to provide a good balance between working on theory, technique, and repertoire, and working on aspects that might be more fun like a students favorite song. This allows the student to make progress while also keeping motivated, which is really important for long term goals. For children, the balance has to lean more towards the more entertaining aspect, because of the reduced attention span. I actively work towards getting the younger students to increase their tolerance towards difficult challenges so that they can make more overall progress. Read More
