I completed a Masters Degree in Music (Saxophone Performance) with an emphasis in Jazz Studies in 2016 from the Lamont School of Music and have experience working with underprivileged students with varying income backgrounds. My teaching methods are completely based on the playing level of the student. Beginner guitar students will go through the first Hal Leonard book before moving in a more specialized direction. We will take a string-by-string approach to the guitar while we also learn chords. More advanced students can provide suggestions on where they would like the lessons to go. Depending on experience level I like to get people making music as soon as possible. I know that trudging through the basics can be tiring. Of course some basics are neccesary but I like to make the basics sound as musical as possible. We will cover the fundamentals but we'll do so in such a way that it won't feel like so much work. I like to use books, depending on skill level, for reference but I have a very hands on approach and feel that the best work to be done together is the stuff that can't be found in the book.
