I have been teaching music since 2005. I started as an in home music instructor, providing guitar, bass and piano lessons to people of all ages in their homes. As my teaching experience grew, I've added drums and ensemble/group lessons to my repertoire. I've also been hired as a bass and guitar instructor and curriculum director by a number of private music schools in and around the Boston area. My lessons focus on creating excitement and enthusiasm for the instrument through playing examples, live playing or "jamming" and encouraging the student to develop a consistent practice schedule. I have found that the basics are the most important part of music. Even issues in more advanced players can be addressed by filling the gaps in a students knowledge of the fundamentals. I also strongly emphasise a student's ear training as that really opens up the instrument to them, allowing for more intuitive playing and improved creativity. I am first and foremost a student. I love being a student and love being open to new forms of music and anything to better my education. In May of 2017 I graduated from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance. Performance has taught me multiple languages, taken me around the U.S. and parts of Europe, working with the top musicians in the world. For piano I prefer the Faber series. I like to include scales, sight-reading, and repertoire of the students choosing and of my suggestion. For Voice I like to cover the anatomical fundamentals (posture, breath, phonation, and depending on age), in the first lesson, and each lesson includes a warm-up as well as at least one piece of repertoire of the students choosing. For guitar I teach note reading as well as tablature, but we mostly work from tablature, unless the student is studying classical. Read More

I enjoy sharing my musical knowledge to students so they will advance in their musical aims. In 1983, I attended The Guitar Institute of Technology and studied privately with Frank Gambale, who formalized the single line "sweep technique" on guitar. While in L.A. I also studied with Ed Mann, longtime Frank Zappa percussionist and teacher at Cal. Arts. In Boston, I became assistant to George Russell on the revision of his 1953 copyrighted and published book "The Lydian Chromatic Concept Of Tonal Organization" released in 2001. Read More
