I have recently started teaching in the last year on zoom and in person. A lot of my gigging and recording experience I have been able to incorporate in to my students lessons. I think one of the most important aspects of teaching music is how to learn. Every student learns differently. Knowing if they learn well by sheet music, by ear, or just working on technique. I enjoy teaching, putting students on the right track with what they want to learn, with the fundamentals of guitar in the beginning and that they enjoy it as well. Read More

Proper technique, learning the notes, and learning how to practice effectively is a great place to start. Even ten minutes a day is better than not practicing. Making lessons fun and giving students tools to bring home is very important to me. An example is learning some excersises to get the notes under your fingers, and some chords and scales to practice at home. The excersises will create and maintain proper technique. Read More

My dad employed a very competitive method on me and my siblings when teaching us piano. And although it worked on me, it caused my brother to quit piano. I have learned through my teaching experience that some students need a push and some need a pull. Every student is unique. I admit that I am the most successful with a competitive method. The "I bet you can't play that right" method. Read More

For me, the most important thing is not to teach what I know. The most important thing is to teach my students to generate knowledge for themselves. In addition, the change, the result or the progress I seek is that which exerts music through its transforming power of the human being. My style is interactive. The dynamics of the class we make between the student and me. Of course, I lead the class, but the questions are very important. Read More

For beginning students I prefer to use either Alfred's, Mel Bay, or Hal Leonard method books. I generally stay away from method books that use guitar tablature because I find that student will prefer to read the tablature instead of standard musical notation. Tablature is a good way to easily show how guitar parts are played, but is not useful when teaching standard notation, music theory, harmony, etc. In addition to using a method book, I will also teach the student popular songs, which is a great way to start teaching chords and song structure in addition to keeping the lesson fun and the student engaged. I keep my lessons low pressure and laid back. This is a fun hobby for my students and I try to keep it that way! At the same time, I work with the student to set goals to keep them accountable and making progress. I don't make students perform in front of anybody else unless that is a goal of theirs to work towards. Depending on the student's level, having me playing along with them at times is also something I use to help the student feel more comfortable. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
