I am extremely passionate about the voice and love teaching music to students of all ages! I've been a music teacher for 6+ years and taught at a K-8 school. Additionally, I have 10 years of experience teaching lessons. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration on classical voice and composition. I teach most styles of singing- including classical, opera, musical theatre, pop, rock, country, and jazz. I love playing piano and guitar and will teach you all about chords, music theory, and how to play like your favorite artists! Read More

Every student is different, but all students need to be motivated and inspired. I try to find the right “buttons” for each individual to help them become excited about learning their instrument. I approach my teaching with enthusiasm, patience and realistic but high expectations. I want my students to feel comfortable and safe and be able to make mistakes without fear or embarrassment. Music is supposed to bring joy, not stress. Read More

In addition to recording an album of original music, I have had the privilege of working as a live musician. I have played in a touring band as the lead singer and keyboardist, and have also performed hundreds of gigs as a solo musician. Events/venues that I have played at include weddings, fundraisers, parties, clubs, bars restaurants and more. It is my goal to help students reach a level to where they are able to receive a steady flow of paying gigs. Read More

I like to take a very personalized approach to teaching and my methods can vary greatly depending on my students goals and interests. I think the most important aspect of learning the guitar is enjoying the process of practicing the instrument. Because of this, I base my lessons on what each individual student desires to learn, teach them concepts in the context of the music that they love, and give them the technical and theoretical concepts behind the music they're passionate about. I try to work with students to develope not only the technical aspects of their instrument, but, also their overall musicianship; melodic perception, solid, staedy rhythm, tone, and dynamics. All of which can and should be used to help the student grow and enrich their own musical experience and passion. I'm comfortable teaching students of all ages and look forward to finding new students to share my musical knowledge and abilities with. Read More

To me, the most important part of music is listening. For my beginners, what chord is happening is this song? How do I play that chord? How do I remember all the chords to this song? I will encourage my more advanced students to listen to the masters, as well as their own playing. What is the master player doing in this recording? How can the student apply that same concept in their own playing? Read More
