Upon graduating from the Univerity of Maryland, I taught elementary band and strings at 3 different public schools in Maryland. In addition, I taught privately in three locations, including a Music Arts Center, instructing beginning through advanced students, both children and adults. I relish finding ways in which students relate most to music and love that everybody is different. During my internship with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center  and volunteer work with The Cavalier Music Enrichment Program (both based in Baltimore, Maryland), I have taught music to over 250 students. From general music theory to specific instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques; I have had the privilege to work with students of various ages, spanning from sixth graders to college students. The Suzuki method is ideal for beginning flute students, particularly young students. My materials and methods differ depending on the pupil's age/ability. For a young 11 year old beginner, homework assignments will begin with the instrument itself, and then eventually Book One of any method book desired. Popular practice dictates good results with books like Yamaha and Standard of Excellence. For middle-level ability (middle school / early high school), the Rubank series is perfect.
