Mona’s activities as a performer and her dedication to education and art awareness have led her to many teaching and outreach opportunities. Her woodwind quintet performed in New England Conservatory’s historic Jordan Hall and throughout the greater Boston area as part of a community outreach project designed to bring awareness of wind instruments and chamber music to local elementary schools. I have completed two pedagogy training programs. During my graduate studies at the Longy School of Music, I took a two semester sequence of pedagogy coursework which included teaching two high school students under the supervision of a Longy flute professor. I also participated in the Teacher Training Program at the Boston Flute Academy where I taught workshops to adults and junior high students on sight-reading and intonation, and masterclasses to advanced junior high and high school students. For more intermediate and advanced students I like to focus strongly on music fundamentals, assigning regular etudes and finding pieces fit for the students skill and interest!   For beginning guitar students, I focus on learning the pedagogy of the guitar : string names, basic care and maintenance and finger placement, later moving on to open chords and melodic playing.
