For beginning students, we work out of beginning method books such as Essential Elements or Standard of Excellence. This is supplemented with worksheets and personalized exercises specific to their needs. As the student advances, we will begin to introduce duets to begin to understand and play harmonized music. My initial method is assessing a student's abilities, and figuring out which approach is best for them. Every student is different, both from an ability standpoint and from their personality. I began private teaching while studying in college and am looking to expand and build a studio in The Greater Seattle Area.  I have taught my own students and acted as a substitute teaching instructor ; nurturing and respecting the teaching styles already presented to the students. During my schooling in Boston, I studied Alexander Technique and always try to incorporate body awareness when working with students! I studied piano as a child, l year at WSU, l year at MSM and 3 months with Olga Sukhover in Seattle l year studyiing piano at UW I played flute in the Issaquah Chamber Orchestra, the UW Band, and Clarinet with Ballard Civic Orchestra (Latino) and with Seattle Symphonic Band I studied clarinet at Northwestern, Manhattan School of music, and University of Washington, and WSU. I'm a flutist, Japanese language instructor, and Alexander Technique teacher based in Seattle, WA. My teaching experience spans over 15 years and includes Japanese language lessons, private flute instruction, chamber music workshops, and an assistantship to a Dalcroze eurhythmics course. I hold degrees from New England Conservatory and the University of Washington. I completed additional studies at the Sibelius Academy in Finland as a Fulbright Scholar and am an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique. Read More
