For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the lesson books you or I provide, preferably Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I began studying music performance in university in 2006, under the tutelage of Dr. Sara Gill. Dr. Gill had just returned from an amazing study abroad with Trevor Wye and his studio, and was able to offer cutting edge techniques. After my first year of University Dr. Gill moved, and I was subsequently passed to the instruction of the amazing Dr. Naomi Seidman. I studied under Dr. Seidman for the next 4 years of my education, and performed every semester in both the Concert ensembles and the Flute Choir at the music school. Read More

First and foremost, I want a student to be the best that they can be. I do not want a saxophone student to aspire to be like me or somebody else, I want them to be the best version that they can be. Because nobody else can be you other than you. When encouraging my students to be the best that that they can be, I insist that this is only achieved by consistent and efficient work. Read More

I believe in the philosophy of and empty cup. My lessons are not built for me to tell the student what to do, but rather learn how they learn and research the best practices for reaching that student. There is no "cookie cutter" method that works for all students, because everyone learns and comprehends a little bit differently. I remain sensitive to that and patient with my students. It always gets me when a student that is stuck on a part of their music finally understands and performs the passage perfectly. Read More

I stated playing the Flute and Violin when I was 9 years old and have been involved in music ever since. I went on to participate in any music class I could take during high school including Concert band, Jazz band, Marching band, Drum-line, and Orchestra. I decided to use pursue a degree in music education to help future students develop their talent for music. I have taught private lessons for over 12 years and use my experience as a elementary and middle school music teacher (10 years) to teach band and orchestra instruments. Read More
