Instruments: Flute Piccolo
A mixture of exercises, etudes, literature and theory to make sure that a student is a well-rounded musician, not just a flutist. Special attention is given to UIL and all-region material, as well as fundamentals. I'm stern, but extremely patient. Students are expected to practice and be well prepared, but the material chosen is fun and engaging! Read More

Additionally, I like to work with scales and long tones in a more advanced way, expanding the range of the instrument and tone quality as we prepare repertoire. With students interested in jazz, either as their primary course of study or in addition to classical music, we focus even more on scales and arpeggios, aiming to master first the most commonly used keys and then expanding to 12 key mastery. I like to begin with a play-along book like Jamey Aebersold's "Maiden Voyage", stressing the beginnings of improvisation, then moving on to more advanced tunes and chord progressions. Read More

I have been playing the flute for the past decade, and I have taught part time at a local middle school since my freshman year of college. Ive always wanted to help others become more successful, especially since during my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I did not have a lesson teacher of my own, so I often had to work alone. I want to be able to inspire students to be better and be successful, and help them become better than they couldve possibly imagined, with the work being put it in, of course! Read More

They had a tenor sax that they let me play and I was hooked! I made the top ensemble after my first semester and never looked back. I made region band every year after that and earned 1st divisions on all my ensembles and solos. I played 1st tenor in the jazz band in High School and started to think I could do this for a long time. I got a scholarship to UTA and marched with them for a few years while I concentrated on classical saxophone and studied jazz. Read More

I taught throughout my time in college as well. I took a short break after graduating with my master's but have since returned to teaching in the Rockwall area. I have also taught in larger group settings, working with marching band flute sections and flute choir. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet
I have been playing piano since age 6 and clarinet since age 10. During my time at university I was taught to play all of the woodwinds, focused on pedagogy and music technology, and achieved many awards and recognition. My clarinet/woodwind pedagogy instructor was a student of Himie Voxman, author of many woodwind teaching method books. My university band was, at that time, considered one of the best in the state of SC, and was invited to play at the state music educators' convention in 2003. Read More
