My methodology is somewhat rare, in that I don't have a standardized set of books or resources that I require. I typically focus on fundamentals of musicianship -scales, chords, etc.- as a main focus. as for repertoire, I tend to gravitate to the great American song book/ other Jazz Standards. I have given lessons before when I was in high school. Each student works and learns at their own pace. For beginners, the basics are explored. As they grow more confident we work on more particular subjects like tone, scales, proper breathing. Practice is a must, the will not get anywhere they want to be without constant practice. I focused on performing during my undergraduate studies; then had the opportunity to share my musical talents in a different way when I began my music therapy career.
