I'm a composer-flutist and flute/piano teacher who received a PhD in music composition and theory with departmental distinction from UC Davis in June 2021. I also hold a master's degree from the San Francisco Conservatory and a bachelor's from Columbia University. My own compositions have been performed at music festivals across the U.S. and in Europe. I have won several calls for scores, including calls from the Sewanee Summer Music Festival (2020), North/South Consonance (2019), Vox Musica (2017), and New Music on the Bayou (2016). Read More

After attending the Boston Conservatory, I moved back to California in 2010 where I began performing in orchestras such as the Palisades Symphony, Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, Dream Orchestra, American Youth Symphony, and Los Angeles Flute Orchestra. I have participated in and won numerous competitions in California such as the Kiwanis Club Solo Competition, the Junior Bach Festival,  and the Bay Women's Club of Santa Monica Scholarship Competition. David began a successful career as a free-lance musician, performing in various venues in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlantic City and the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. In addition, he also taught privately in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Since relocating to Sacramento in 1999, he has continued to perform as a free-lance musician in Northern California, while maintaining a private teaching schedule in Sacramento. Davids students are participating in the areas concert/jazz bands, honor bands, community bands and the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Read More
