I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. I'm most comfortable working with beginner to intermediate students, ages 7-11. Initially, I will provide my students with an assessment to learn more about the student's interest and performance level. Subsequently, based upon the assessment results, I will provide my students with a series of warm-up exercises designed to support proper posture, breathing and the overall handling of their respective instrument for every session . I am an experienced flutist and teacher currently serving the DC Metro area, and I love teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners picking up the flute for the very first time to advanced students preparing for County Band auditions and beyond, to adult students interested in learning a new skill. I received my Master of Music in Flute Performance from the New England Conservatory, and Bachelor of Music in Performance from George Mason University, and am continually improving my skills as a flutist by taking auditions for orchestras and festivals around the country. I played music all my life. I began to play the flute at the age of 9 years old and the piano at around 12. I graduated from Washington Adventist University with a degree in music performance. I have performed with the New England Symphonic Ensemble in various countries all over the world including England, Thailand, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Jamaica, Caymen Islands and South Africa.
