I had an opportunity to start teaching early as a student leader in my high school music program and continuing into college. I've found that my students have a much higher level of success when they are encouraged to practice regularly at home. I use classical repertoire to build techniques across styles and modern music to keep students engaged. If they aren't enjoying themselves, I'm not doing something correctly. I encourage students to enter recitals and competitions as well as create their own original material. Read More

I love watching students learn and helping them to progress. There is nothing more satisfying than sharing my love for playing music with students! I set realistic goals for each student depending on their starting point. Assessing where each student is with their playing is the most important aspect of teaching. Too hard and the student will get discouraged. Too easy and they will be bored. I encourage them to select at least one piece of music that they would enjoy learning to keep their interest. What I want is to nurture a life long love and appreciation of music. Every student is going to be at a different level, and have their own strengths and weaknesses. I prefer to get to know my students and their taste in music, before imposing any sort of practice regimen. Whats important is that students enjoy and are fulfilled by their lessons, not overwhelmed (because then they dont practice!). Read More

I am a dynamic music instructor who enjoys motivating others to find the best version of themselves. Likewise, I seek the perfect balance between work and dedication that allows the student to feel that each lesson is a new opportunity to grow and develop both as an artist and as a human being. I earned a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, a Master Degree in Flute Performance from the Peabody Conservatory, as well as a Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Conservatory as well. I've been teaching private music lessons for more than 15 years and have taught students from age 4 to 50. I've worked in my home studio, in students' homes, in a traditional classroom setting, in small classes, in large college lecture halls, and in online classrooms. I also have experience working with neurodiverse students. In short, I've done it all! I find pride and enjoyment out of watching students marvel at their own progress. Read More

I began teaching privately in the greater Milwaukee area in 2012. With my help and motivation, a fifth grader decided to keep his flute and play in his beginning band, despite his families' circumstances. Later, I picked up an interested eighth grader, who eventually received a Gold at regional solo contest and also made the all-state band. Motivation, "keeping it real", and an upbeat attitude have continued to yield personal and academic results in my studio. Read More
