There are a couple of good method books, but introducing appropriate solo repertoire as early as possible creates a sense of self accomplishment, and so I normally follow my teaching instincts to know exactly the best time to bring this into the picture. While I have recommend materials to varying levels of students, every lesson approach is different. With all my students, I believe keeping them engaged and excited at what they are doing is most important.
