I have taught drum instruction and Jazz ensemble at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music for 20 years. In addition I developed and implemented elementary music programs for K-5 thru 4th grade for schools in the NY vicinity. Upon moving to the Milwaukee area I have taught private and group instruction for the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, Elementary Music K-5 thru 8th grade at St. Josaphats school, Music Therapy and intergenerational activities at the Lutheran Home, private studio and now Musika. I am currently a Jazz Studies/Music Performance Major with an emphasis on drum set at Northern Illinois University. I recently completed my third year and will soon begin my third year. I have a passion for performing and can be seen performing with multiple bands in the DeKalb area and in the Chicago area. I try to keep lessons fun even though there's aspects that might be boring. So, I will switch from snare drum to drum set. Learning how to combine rudiments with drum set music such as jazz and rock is very beneficial. When my students are having trouble with a certain area, I do well with taking out that area and making a drill out of it. One of my specialties is that I will play the bass with students for various styles so they can have a hands on experience of the relationship of a rhythm section, phrasing, and timing. Read More

I graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College and earned an associates Degree in Jazz Music. I went on to U.W. Milwaukee and studied classical music and was part of the U.W. Milwaukee Percussion Ensemble for 4 years. After graduating from U.W. Milwaukee I became a full time musician and traveled as a full time musician working throughout the United States and internationally. Music is a lifelong passion and I want to create an atmosphere that encourages creativity and a desire to seek out other musicians. My teaching style is not rigid and I am not afraid to experiment to see what each student responds best to. I have been teaching drums off and on while maintaining other work for almost 20 years. While other teachers may always say "Practice makes Perfect" I say something different. "Practice makes permanent". For me, this means that yes, if you practice something every day you will get better at it - but what if you practice it wrong! That is why I have an open call/door policy. I would much rather a student call me and say "I don't think I am doing this right" and let me re-explain something instead of them just to continue practicing it wrong - once you practice something 7 times it is usually in their for good.
