Music is my one true passion which more then anything I love to share with the world and new on the rise musicians. Nothing is more pleasing then seeing the fire in the eyes of a new musician finally having a break through moment. For me its not just about the music, being about to give someone a skill that can truly change their life forever is an amazing thing to be able to be a part in. Read More

Looking for a fresh, new approach to drums? Whether you have been playing for a while or you're just picking up sticks today, I can help you achieve the next level in your music. I started playing in my fathers church at 13 and by middle school I was signed up for every ensemble my school had to offer. In high school, I won several awards at jazz band competitions and was fortunate enough to recieve scholarships to help pursue music as a career. Read More

For beginner students, I often begin with the foundations of the instrument. For drums, we would be practice the rhythmic subdivisions (quarter, eighth, sixteenth notes) and slowly work them into grooves that they can easily start to pick out of their favorite songs. When the fundamentals have been established, we can learn more advanced grooves, dissect songs together, and learn how to improvise and write our own drum parts. My biggest focus as a teacher is to help the student discover the music that they want to learn and make so that they can develop their own unique voice. Read More

I have 3 years of teaching experience, beginning when I was in college. I highly encourage regular practice because it gets the student comfortable with the fundamentals of their instrument. Eventually, this will allow creative freedom for them as they progress with their studies. I want my students to feel confident about their progress and abilities, so I encourage them to play with other musicians. Being a part of rhythm section can be a fun but pressuring aspect of being in an ensemble. Read More

I like to create lessons geared towards each individual students needs. I work out of a few different books depending upon skill level. I try to gear the lessons towards the style of music the student likes while also teaching different techniques for a wide variety of music. I like to use rudiments and stick control as warm up exercises and then also teach different grooves and rhythms through song. for beginner students I will teach drum kit basics like setup. tuning and how to replace drum heads etc as well. Teaching is a joy and pleasure. I am most excited when we are progressing in our growth and skill sets. I want to make sure you are having fun, finding it useful and setting yourself up to play whatever style or sound you dream of! I want to make sure you have the theoretical knowledge, strength, technical ability, dexterity, expanded song knowledge and musical terminology to navigate and musical setting. Read More

My goal will be to teach the student how to practice independently. I recommend setting up a practice schedule so that they know when they are supposed to practice. If the student is struggling with any of the weekly assignments, that is ok! Simply let me know at the next lesson so I know right where to help. No need to stress or worry if there is some confusion. Learning music is similar to learning another language; those first lessons, especially with drums, will have some basic learning curves, but I am sure that with practice & time you or your child will be excellent! Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
