I have taught on and off for the last 7 years. Recently I have decided to change careers and focus music and teaching full time. During my time as an undergrad student I taught percussion and basic piano lessons in the local area. Since leaving school in 2014 I have continued my music education and focused on teaching young children both group and individual. The way I teach is about showing the student "the dance" of drums. The exercises and rudiments they practice are the movements in a dance. For example, with Punk drums the movements need to be mastered and played fast so the student will have to practice to get the movements up to speed instead of focusing on the beat. With Pop drums the movements need to be comfortable but precise as the student learns the importance of a metronome and how to relate to it by thinking of it as a member of the band. Read More

Evan Michael H. started playing drums at age 5 and never looked back. Born into a musical family, Evan got his first stage experience in a family band with his dad. As teenagers, Evan and his friends created the rock band Escapist and performed at venues across California’s central coast. In 2010, Evan co-founded the rock band STAGE 11 where he's performed drums and other percussion across three albums, multiple residencies, and dozens of independent concerts across LA, including opening for Jefferson Starship at Whisky-a-Go-Go in 2018.
