I also start students off with reading which helps them better understand rhythm and being able to read music is a huge plus in todays music world. My teaching experience goes back to middle school. I didn't get paid for it but I would teach the drummers their part the ensembles and performances in the orchestra and jazz band. I learned very quickly just how much experience I already had gathered to provide insight to people who were just a few years behind me in skill level.
