I have been teaching lessons since 2006 when I started as a music major at Asbury Univeristy, a private, liberal arts college outside of Lexington, KY. Piano students will also learn basic rhythm comping skills and learn what it's like to play in a rhythm section while I accompany them on drum set.  I have my lesson booklet available for purchase in which each student can design their own curriculum to meet their goals.  I also recommend additional books for each student as they develop more specific interests and needs. Every one of my students begins with a combination of pad work and time behind the set. The first thing I establish is technique as it is the foundation to moving around the set and becoming comfortable. My aim is to have fun, so the first short term goal is to be able to play the fundamental drum beat! We later add more and build upon it. My teaching style is unique because it revolves around having fun with music. I believe that more traditional forms of teaching can be too dull or too urgent, leading to disinterest. Once you become disinterested, you're far more likely to quit - and I don't want you to quit!
