I am an active performer and percussion instructor who enjoys introducing new students to the world of music as well as honing the skills of more advanced players. I have earned both Bachelors and Masters degrees in music performance from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and I have had the opportunity to perform with various groups across the United States and Europe. My private teaching studio is located in my home in Maryland, where I have all the instruments we will need to get you where you want to be musically! Read More

First of all, I am someone who took formal private lessons for drums and flute from 5th grade all the way through college. I have been at School of Rock for about a year, where I am responsible for many individual as well as group lessons. I have taught a wide variety of ages ranging from 5-23, and I am extremely open to adult lessons. I am a firm believer that it's never too late to learn and that adults are more able to appreciate musical accomplishments. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Alfred Piano Basics. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to work from Czerny and introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Drums
I began to teach drum lessons as a freshman in High School and I haven't looked back since! Teaching has always come naturally to me because my father taught cello lessons at home for my entire childhood . I have combined his teaching styles with my own philosophies, experience and habits throughout my young and extensive musical career. I also have been taking drum lessons since age six from four different drum instructors. Read More

My approach varies depending on the student's skill level and chosen instrument, but for beginners I always try to get them familiarized with their instrument: teaching them the basics of reading music and how to navigate the different keys (or strings, etc.). From there I start teaching various musical concepts, the rudiments of music theory, and begin introducing them to different styles of music. When the student is advanced enough, I start having them run through my own custom designed technique and skill drills, and have them start selecting music that they would like to perform on their own. I have played and studied piano and drums for nearly 30 years and have been teaching for 20 years. I have performed with many different musicians and bands throughout my career. Specifically, I have taught and continue to teach in homes, studios, community based outreach organizations, as well as behavioral health facilities and other institutions. Engendering and instilling focus discipline and a fun loving attitude towards practice and performing is important to me as I utilize the many years of practice and performance to pass on the trade to the next generation of aspiring musicians. Instruments: Drums
My teaching style is a mix of fun and education. I was a student who struggled with ADD and I want to make each student's learning experience fun as the rudiments are mastered. I include drum set sheet music, and learning the student's favorite songs at their pace. If they need help with school band charts they are welcomed to bring them for study at the lesson. Bottom line - whatever you want to tackle, I strive to find the teaching method that works best for you and work in the fun. Read More
