I started teaching in college when I was a tutor in the mathematics and music departments as well as at an after school program in the neighboring town. After graduating I started teaching private music lessons in a variety of settings. I try to keep my lessons interesting and informative so that the student learns without getting bored. I am a patient, kind, and understanding teacher to students of all ages. Read More

For all my students I like to balance between making our way through a method book and breaking down different songs and exercises. I recommend Hal Leonard's Essential Elements/Method books or Standard of Excellence books for my woodwind/guitar/ukulele students, Piano Adventures by Faber books for my piano students, and Breaking It Down or Alfred's Beginning Drumset Method for my drum students. Once the student has gained an understanding of basic sight-reading, then we can move on to more advanced books that can be focused on a theme or other advanced methods. Read More
Instruments: Clarinet
Etudes/Exercises: Etudes combine learning of the scales, with phrasing, character and expression. There are multitudes of etude books and exercises that we can explore to find the right match. 3. Solo (and/or chamber music, audition music, etc.): The last part of lessons focus on any music that students are currently working on or would like to challenge themselves with. Whether it is an audition, recital, or competition, we will take the time to learn the music you love to play! Read More
