Overview:
I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students of all ages and skill levels. I studied at the prestigious Hartt School of Music for two years as a music education major while studying clarinet with Alan R. Kay (Juilliard). I then transferred to New York University where I received my bachelor's degree in music technology. I taught private and group music in Manhattan from 2010-2016 and in Los Angeles since 2017. I was a selected participant in Carnegie Hall's Music Educator's Workshop from 2014-2016 and studied orchestral conducting at The Juilliard School.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching others music since I was in college. My love for music education comes from the great opportunities I had at a very young age to work with amazing conductors and music educators in New Jersey, as part of the All State and regional bands. Through numerous varied past experience teaching private lessons to all ages, at summer camps, group classes at an arts center, and student teaching, I am fully equipped for any situation. I thoroughly enjoy helping my students grow at their own pace while always making sure to challenge them and keep it fun!
METHODS USED
For beginner students with little to no playing experience, I usually start with the Essential Elements series, along with supplemental music theory instruction. I usually switch the student over to the Rubank books once they've grasped the fundamentals. I then introduce standard solo repertoire as well as etudes, orchestral excerpts, etc. I encourage ensemble playing and deep music listening to all my students as well. For piano students, I am comfortable teaching Suzuki, Faber & Faber, and many other methods. With my technology background, I'm at ease incorporating new music education technology tools.
LESSON STYLE
It's very important to me that the student progresses at their own pace while still being presented with new challenges along the way. I believe in a well-rounded music education, by teaching music theory and ear training from the very beginning along with private instruction, supplemented by listening/analyzing music, ensemble playing, performance opportunities, and using the best of new music technology software to increase one's overall musicianship. I work hard to personalize the experience for each student, listening to their needs and working off their personal strengths and weaknesses.

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
