Performance experience includes formal recitals to complete my undergraduate degree, and playing with ensembles such as the Portland Wind Symphony, Oregon Sinfonietta, Portland Community Wind Band, Northwest Wind Symphony, Opera Theater Oregon, Oregon Symphonic Band, North Coast Symphonic Band, Astoria Music Festival and a variety of small chamber ensembles. I also lead and write music for my own band. I attended Mount Hood Community College and Portland State University where I graduated with a B.S. in biology and in jazz studies. I believe that there should be a mixture of hard work and play, and will often assign fundamental exercises combined with solo or duet material.
