I have been playing cello for 20 years, after starting when I was 10. I was admitted to Jacksonville University at the age of 16 on a full scholarship, and there I pursued a double major in Music Theory Composition, and Cello Performance. I did my graduate work at Denver University, where I studied a variety of non-western musics, including Balinese gamelan, Ghanaian drumming, and Tuvan traditional music. I am sure to acknowledge accomplishments, not only by finding and setting milestones with each student to discover during lessons, but by (as effectively as I can) creating opportunities for students to perform a recital and demonstrate what they have learned for friends and family. I also make a point of ensuring students know that their lessons with me are a safe and inclusive space. I was an Assistant Professor in the National Conservatory of Guatemala for 2 years. I was a teacher from some programs with the State of Guatemala in the country side and the capital city, and a member of the string quartet "Ad-libitum". I have taught several students while I was studying music. I won the third place of the Taipei City Competition of Music among many outstanding competitors in 2015. On the other hand, I strived for the chance of participating in many performances. In 2014, I performed Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85 with the local orchestra in Hualien. In 2017, I played Prokofiev’s Sinfonia-Concertante, Op.125 at my recital at Soochow University, which was praised by my teachers and the audiences. Read More
