I earned my Masters in Music Performance from Ball State University where I studied cello and chamber music with Dr. Peter Opie of the American Piano Trio and my Bachelors in Music Performance from the Conservatory of Shenandoah University where I studied the same with Mr. Clyde Shaw of the Audubon Quartet. With a global perspective on music cultivated by my background performing Brazilian music and American Jazz since childhood, and further bolstered by a B.A. in Anthropology: Ethnomusicology from Ithaca College, I have been a full time touring musician for the last 10 years. For over a decade I have performed with orchestras, chamber ensembles, bands, duets, trios, solo, etc... as well as teaching students of a variety of instruments and ages. I have been playing the cello for 13 years now and began giving lessons about five years ago. I have taught everyone from very young beginners, to adults picking up the instrument for the first time, to advanced students preparing to play in a college orchestra. I have prepared many students at all levels for the NYSSMA adjudication, resulting in high scores. However, I encourage students to work on not just their NYSSMA solo, but also to work on thoroughly understanding the skills, techniques, and musicality required of any piece at that level. Read More
