For all my cello students, I start with 170 Foundation Studies and a modified Suzuki Method (Cello). Once my students reach Suzuki book 4, then they can start playing Bach Suites, and other intermediate repertoir. The Bach Suites, however, are what most of my cello students are interested in learning. For piano students, I use the Bastien piano series by Neil Kjos. I began teaching in 2009, with private students. The following year, I began working with non-profit organization, for two years, that brought music to at-risk and underprivileged children. After working with them, I began working with the Baton Rouge Arts Council, bringing music and music appreciation to elementary school class rooms for children and schools that did not have a music teacher, on staff. Once the student has progressed I will begin some solo repertoire from varying genres. I find it is always helpful to allow students to play music that they enjoy - experiencing a range of both popular and classical pieces to broaden their horizons. I've been playing bass guitar and double bass, professionally for over 35 years in various bands, groups, orchestras and with international stars such as Ray Charles and Andrea Bocelli.
