Instruments: Cello Music
I teach from the traditional method. I use the String Builder as it give the student a step by step method on how to learn the notes and how to understand the notes on the page. This method teaches you 2 ideas simultaneously. You read music, and play at the same time. There are many methods of teaching, and I am aware of all of them, but I am very successful with the Traditional method and the String Builder Method Book. Read More

I am a musician with a passion for sharing my craft with others. I have an extensive background in instrumental music and music production. Violin is my primary instrument, but I am also proficient in many other string and percussion instruments. I have prior classroom teaching experience at the high school level, where I also directed and conducted musicals. I own a fully functioning multi-track home recording studio that I use to compose and produce music of varying genres. Read More

Other students of mine have won awards and honors in competitions, as well as seats in Honor Orchestras at the regional and state level. Read More

In my lessons, I take an integrated approach to music education, drawing connections between music of practically any style, genre, or tradition; between musical technique, analysis, and expression; and between music as an abstract entity (e.g., a score, an acoustic phenomenon) and the cultural and historical context in which it is both composed and performed. I work on music not only from the Western classical tradition, but also from pop, rock, jazz, and folk music from around the world, as I believe all musical styles are worthy of exploration and consideration. My teaching experience dates back to when I was in high school, when I began teaching beginning students of all instruments 10 years ago. I have been consistently teaching students in their homes, my home, and online for the past 5 years. Ive found that introducing students to as many different styles of music as possible goes a long way in helping students enjoy playing their instrument and listening to recordings of their instrument. For beginners, I would first teach them the basic sitting and hand postures, basic note-reading, and basic music theories. After they know how to play piano in an appropriate posture, I would like them to start with Hanon piano exercises. I believe it is a great book to warm up the fingers and a great finger exercises for all levels of piano players. Other than those basic exercises, I would also like to introduce them to one to two simple pieces that are fun to play. Read More

My approach to learning an instruments is to have the students learn to play by ear first before they can start learning to read music. I find that most students are able to progress quickly because it frees them to focus on the playing the instruments rather than reading notes. I consider reading music like different subject that they learn later. Learning music is like learning to speak. First we learn to talk and then we learn to read and write. Read More
