My passion for teaching is borne out of a love for connecting with others, fostering curiosity, and sharing my love of music. I hold a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory, which I earned in 2006, and I studied with jazz guitar great Paul Wingo for several years after that. I have studied with some of the finest classical guitarists in the world, including Manuel Barrueco, David Russell, Roland Dyens, Ray Chester, William Feasley, and many others. Read More

I truly believe music should be a fun and rewarding experience. It brings me great joy seeing my students progress in their musical abilities. I encourage students to explore their talents and discover what it is they love about their instrument. If students wants to compose and write music I encourage and help them. If students have a recital or a performance coming up, we will take time to fully prepare for the gig, wether it is a talent show or competition. Read More

I have played at noteable venues like the Downtown Events Center, Regency Park, and Berkeley Music Hall as well as The Pour House and even well-known coffee shops throughout my area. I combine classic rock with new age rock approaches in my guitar and drumset intruction. I am big into the blues and rock and folk styles especially, but can teach a few others thru the Intermediate levels. I have most experience as an instrumentalist performing in rock bands in the greater Raleigh area. Read More

I focus on 3 fundamental aspects of music education: sight-reading, music theory and ear training. I will typically use a method book like the Berklee Basic Guitar: Phase 1 and 2 or Berklee Modern Guitar Method: Volumes 1,2,and 3, for advanced students. I also use Hal Leonard and other methods that may be more appropriate for some students. My method includes extensive use of online video and tutorial resources, plus the "Play Guitar for Life" video series that I can make available for interested students. Read More
