My teaching experience encompasses over a decade of teaching across three continents. I've taught in public high schools, music schools, multidisciplinary seminars and camps, universities (Yale, University of Toronto) conservatories (Cornish College of the Arts and Il Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana), and maintained a private studio since 2005. My students are an eclectic bunch and I couldn't be happier that this is the case; I regularly teach classical guitar lessons, help teenagers make hip hop and RnB records, work with budding sound designers, and coach avant-garde chamber music ensembles, just to name a few! I love to help aspiring students to reach their goals and gain a more confident grasp of music. I've had many students over the years who have transformed their confidence levels after just a few sessions with me. Every student is different, and it's important to move at a pace that works for them. The most important aspect of being an effective teacher is helping students to develop a routine for their practice. Read More

I have been a performer and teacher for 10 years now. I love collaborating and mentoring students of all ages, and I believe each student has their own unique experience and approach to making music. My teaching style is very relaxed, but I will push you when necessary. I will adapt my methods for each student. If your goal is to prepare for a college recital, then we will work very hard together to make sure you are prepared. For the more casual student, we will focus more on music that you want to learn while maintaining proper technique and practice methods. I want to make sure that everyone has a positive experience learning the guitar, but also feels like they are progressing at the same time. Read More

I am fully student centered! Music is a pleasure, and learning it should be as well. All genres of music deserve respect, and I am pleased to teach any and all. (I do have a special fondness for mixing styles.) Read More

I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, I have a degree in Jazz performance from the City College of New York (B.Mus.), and recently graduated from a M.Mus. at William Paterson University on a full academic scholarship. My undying love for the music has taken me from Colombia to Canada, and to New York City, and granted me the opportunity to share the stage with world-class musicians like Al Foster, Will Vinson, Pat LaBarbera, Steve Wilson, Marco Panascia, and Jonathan Kreisberg among many others. For beginning students I begin by talking to them about music and what songs they like. We start clapping along and picking out what the drums are doing and eventually begin playing along. A wonderfully laid out book for beginners that are interested in pop music is "The Funky Primer." I also like to teach the reading of rhythms out of a book by Ted Reed called "Syncopation for the Modern Drummer." This is a great book that you can work out of for many many years to come. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
