For younger students, I typically start with showing them how to develop hand strength using a number of exercises. I then move on to scales, playing them in conjunction with 3rds and triads. Once the student has progressed I will begin to introduce chords and then connect the concepts using music theory. I try to get all my students to understand the number system, modes, and the ability to transpose simple songs that they are currently learning. Read More
