I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old. Throughout high school and college, I performed in orchestras and took part in events such as the Take a Stand Music Festival in Los Angeles, where I performed at the Disney Concert Hall. I also performed at Carnegie Hall as part of a high school classical music festival. I studied music at Miami Dade College and later focused on music business at Northeastern University in Boston. For me the most important thing in lessons is to get students to play. After all, that's why they're here! From your very first lesson, I will have you playing simple parts in duet with me, so you get to make music from day one! I combine these simple exercises with learning notes and technique, so you'll always have a variety of skills to work on. What really fueled my fire was a two week camp in Potsdam, New York in 2007 where I was given the chance to stay in a college dorm, meet professors, work with graduate students, and play challenging music in the selected ensembles. i teach each student individually that is to say that i tailor the lessons to meet the level and desires of the student . i include teaching theory as i go along with each student. i tell each student that there is no such thing as a mistaked, there is only learning. i usually teach two songs in the first hour lesson . one in four four time and one in three four time . i also teach how to transpose any song that the student wishes to learn into the key that the student is able to sing the song in. again . nothing is hard . it is only new. My methods fall into 4 categories: 1) Essential Technique- Students will learn the basics from the Essential Elements books, Etude books such as Wolfahrt and Dont, and customized materials 2) Music Theory and History- Students will learn note reading, key signatures, scales and arpeggios, intervals, rhythm and music history through customized materials and games 3) Solo- Students will choose solos from the Suzuki violin/viola series, or another skill-appropriate solo 4) Ensemble- Once the student has basic familiarity with his or her instrument, I will find them an appropriate ensemble opportunity such as youth orchestra, All-County/All-State Orchestra, adult community orchestra or chamber music Read More
