I recognize that each student is different from the next, and while I prefer to guide all students through a similar structure, I always make conscious and consistent efforts to evaluate each student's progression to determine what needs the most work. I prefer to teach alongside the book series "Essential Elements for Strings" as it provides a well-thought out plan for each level of playing ability. I keep my lessons low pressure and laid back. This is a fun hobby for my students and I try to keep it that way! At the same time, I work with the student to set goals to keep them accountable and making progress. I don't make students perform in front of anybody else unless that is a goal of theirs to work towards. I always try not to push for practice assignments, students are busy for school homework, outdoor activities, family obligations, most importantly, students should have fun to play music, of course practice is important, but if students lost interest in music playing, it will be hard to continue to have lessons.
