I began teaching private lessons about 25 years ago, after I had been hired to work with the drumlines for two different high schools. My first student was in one of the drumlines that I taught, and my second student was referred to me by the band director of another school, after seeing my drumline in competition. Since then, I have taught more students than I can count. Most students have been middle and high school age, but I have had lots of fun teaching students as young as 5 years old, and adults who always wished they had learned to play the drums.I have found that the best way to motivate students is tostart by teaching themto play the kind of music they like most, and then introduce them to other styles later.Lessons are always fun, and catered to the student's needs. I encourage lots of questions from my students. I will also ask them to tell me what they felt in there voice when I ask them to do something. I believe that the voice teacher is only as good as his student can understand what they are actually being asked to do. I set goals for my students, and ask that they practice every day for at least 30 minutes on various things that I may ask them to work on such as scales or a new song ect. Read More

I feel it is important to address each students learning style on an individual level. For young children and beginner's, I pull from resources that encourage basic fundamentals, not inclusive or limited to, Bastein, Alfred, Faber & Faber, and Hal Leonard. According to one's ability and interest, Hanon, Sonatina's Sonata's, familiar and classic's, are encouraged. I have been a member of the esteemed USAL and Arizona State University chorus and continue to volunteer for the Phoenix symphony and Arizona Opera. Love to perform solo as well as with my students or the local retirement communities, private venues, and am a member of Phoenix piano club. My teaching practice includes piano and theory lessons for ages 6 and up. I also work as an accompanist at the church and an entertainer at the parties and social events. Read More

I have taught piano since my college days. I have seen the student's joy and pride through his/her musical accomplishment. Not only do I teach how to play the keyboard, but focus on the understanding of the music being played because that truly is the key (no pun intended) to successful learning. I believe in positive reinforcement and develop a 1-1 relationship with the child and parent.
