I start out with the basics of music. Those are the foundation for any student to become successful at any instrument. Depending on the age of the student, the instrument, and their skill level I have several different books that I find to be best for lessons and practice. I believe in a good mixture of practice and exercises as well as performing solo pieces. I highly encourage practicing regularly. Read More
Instruments: Flute, Piccolo
For beginning students, I use the Trevor Wye beginning books and supplement with solos, etudes, songs and exercises that I give them which are appropriate for their level. For more advanced students, I will use etudes and methods/ solos which are appropriate for their level. For adults, I will find their interests and select a course of study with them. With all students, I will assist with their school music or any ensemble/ solo music they wish. Read More
Instruments: Flute
I have enjoyed a long and successful career in music and music education. I have performed at over 2000 events, taught students of all ages along the way, and also have taught flute and music theory at the college level. I am semi-retired now, and enjoy playing first flute in a symphonic wind ensemble, playing wedding ceremonies with a harpist, pianist, or acoustic guitarist, as well playing in a jazz quartet. Instruments: Flute
Most of my students are playing the flute or piano for an extracurricular/hobby activity. Therefore, I do not want any student to view lessons as work. Above all else, lessons should be fun! I want to challenge my students but never overwhelm them. I work with students at their own pace and try to make the environment as fun and as laid-back as I can. I love playing alongside my students so they are not always playing alone because sometimes playing by yourself in front of a teacher can be stressful. Read More
Instruments: Flute, Recorder, Piccolo
I have been teaching flute lessons in music conservatories to students from beginner to advanced level for more than 15 years. I have also taught flute master classes and woodwind sectionals to youth ensembles and youth orchestras. My lessons allow students to develop the instrument technique and prepare repertory for recitals, marching band auditions, and college auditions. I have experience teaching music to K-2 children in private schools, and music summer camps. Read More
