I have taught privately now for over a decade, as well as in classrooms and given masterclasses to all ages. I worked with pre-K through to the collegiate level in Philadelphia. I also work in communities, bridging gaps geographically and ideologically through musical experiences. I have taught in the United States, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. I have a four-fold method system for teaching the flute based on tone, scales, etudes, and solo and orchestral repertoire. From the start I see the importance at learning and accomplishing the goal of learning a solo piece. Whether that is an absolutely beginning learning simple tunes, to collegiate level exam pieces. I take influence from many famous flute pedagogues including Moyse, Trevor Wye, Altes, and many others. I like to set goals for my students. I generally work out of lessons books, solo repertoire, and whatever else the student brings in. If the students have music from classes in school, I will also assist them with that. I try to keep the lesson light, and enjoyable!
