My teaching style Is not the most liked because I am all about the basics, and when I feel like there ready I would have them start to prepare for there first performance. Once there done with there performance they will be acknowledged for the growth and progress that they have made over the months. Once they have their performance done I would have them select music that they like so there not bored with other music and are actually happy about what they are singing, but they would also be challenged with a skill they have not learned yet. Music is my life! I'm currently finishing up my Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance at Portland State, and teaching music in the Portland community. I am also very fortunate to be an active performer. I've sung lead and supporting roles in many musicals and operas, and am thrilled to be a part of the internationally renowned Portland State Chamber Choir. All student clients receive artist development training according to their level of skill, I will complete a basic assessment to find out student goals and dreams. I will give students a professional critique of their performance or skill. Together we devise a performance action plan which outlines the students creative journey and desired outcome. if students would like to perform, they will have an option to perform at their desired place. I have been teaching students in music for 5+ years now, with guitar being my primary instrument. I was initially self taught, learning mainly from the countless forums, videos, and banks of articles and knowledge that the internet had to offer, but that would only take me so far. I then decided to major in music, for which I'm still undertaking, which has taken my musicianship much higher. I use a combination of teaching styles accumulated from my own time learning to expedite my students progress, so they don't have to take as long as I did to get to their goals on their instrument.
