For my methods, I use a variety of books and create a diet of exercises and pieces that will build on fundamentals - from open strings, to scales and etudes like Schradieck, Kreutzer to pieces from the Suzuki Method as well as other options such as Nardini Concerto in b minor or Haydn Concerto in G Major. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with the Suzuki Method. I introduce the student to basic instrumental technique on their chosen instrument, whether it be violin or piano. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
