I believe that music is a universal creative outlet for expression no matter one's age, background, or level. I have been teaching privately since 1989, teaching piano and bass at 15 years old. Thirty years later I have become a multi-instrumentalist playing Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Electric Bass, Latin Baby Bass, guitar, piano, synthesizer, keyboard and voice. I have a vast knowledge of classical and modern works and am comfortable transcribing modern compositions for my students. My work with the DCYOP, an El-Sistema inspired program, involves teaching the basics of playing the violin, viola, cello and music theory, adjudicating students’ progress, leading sectionals and full rehearsals in various DC schools, some from the most underserved communities. Highlights are having all the different schools come together for a large performance at the Kennedy Center and the students performances with Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell and Esperanza Spalding. I’ve also facilitated many youth orchestra performances and summer camps as string teaching artist in DC and Maryland showcasing that I can motivate the students to a high quality performance regardless of the amount of time. I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 1992, I graduated from Baruch (CUNY) with a degree in Applied Music. I have performed in Nashville and in New York City which has been one of my greater experiences as a musician, and I have had the opportunity to play at Jazz and Country Western clubs.
