I use a very concise methodology in my instruction. I evaluate the students level, from there I make a step by step guide (of selected piece and etudes) to show the student their progress into the next level. I also encorperate ideas in theory, history, and ear training. Also if the student has yet to learn how to read musical notation. that will be taught along side with regular instrumental lessons.

I have been playing viola for almost 20 years and each day I grow more and more passionate for my instrument. I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and began my musical studies on viola at the age 4. I graduated from Baylor University in 2013. While at Baylor University I was Principal of the Baylor Symphony and played with the Waco Symphony, Brazos Valley Symphony, and the San Angelo Symphony orchestras. I now attend the University of Maryland pursing my Masters degree in Viola Performance.

I typically use the Suzuki, All For Strings, and Applebaum method books. If my students prefer other books, though, I will use those. I encourage regular practice, as students who feel they are progressing and doing well tend to enjoy their instrument more. As they become more advanced, they are encouraged to start giving opinions on what they want to learn. One thing that makes my studio unique is that I don't just teach how to play an instrument, I teach my students how to practice. I feel that it is imperative for my students to learn how to use their practice time most efficiently.

My teaching experience started several years ago when I was in high school. I was given the opportunity to teach some young beginning string players and I found that I really enjoyed seeing them develop and took great pride in their progress. I then went to college as a string player and played in multiple orchestras and took part in recitals nearly weekly during my time there. After college I started teaching private string lessons at a local music store. I had around 20 students I taught on a weekly basis ranging from the ages of 4 to 60; the majority being on the younger side. However, I think it’s never too late to learn an instrument! I am now an Orchestra Director at a local high school and teach privately as well. I love what I do and want to share my passion for music and the pride that comes with the mastery of an instrument with others.

I have been playing violin for more than a decade. I began teaching violin three years ago at the same music school I started my own studies in. I started as a summer chamber councilor and then began teaching students as a private instructor. I use mainly the Suzuki method, and other non-traditional methods. My goal is to have my students progress in their instrument, and not only gain important skills, but also grow to love music!
