I will always give my best effort when I teach but students are also required to put in effort if they want to learn and become passionate about music. I encourage my students to have regular practice routines but make sure they are not overwhelmed. I try to cater to the each student's particular needs. For beginning students that are children I typically start with the Essential Elements Strings Book 1 in combination with Suzuki first book. As every student progresses at a different pace, I adjust my teaching curriculum accordingly. I teach children a supplimented Suzuki method, which means I teach the Suzuki Violin Method books with supplimental repertoire in addition such as fiddle tunes and other method books. I introduce note reading from the beginning in the most simple form, and gradually teach them along the way. I use scales, arpeggios, and tonalization to establish a solid technique in my first-year students which enables them to tackle intermediate skills such as shifting and vibrato with ease. Read More

As I have taught for many years, I feel encouraged and motivated when I can pass along my love for music. I choose to work step by step. Not to force them or pressure them on anything. As I mentioned above, having this balance between having fun, enyoing and learning how to be responsible and dedicated, is healthy and efficient! Important is to understand that to learn an instrument, you also need to practice, at least 30 min per day and not just only wanting to have the lesson, because the progress will be very minimal and slow, and the learning process will become very boring.
