My passion for the trumpet has come from developing my skills through a disciplined focus on mechanics and fundamentals. In middle school most of my development came through trial and error with a transition to private lessons my junior year of high school. I have found that a majority of young trumpet players approach the instrument in a fashion that hinders their progress. Whether the student is only first establishing these skills, or seeking further development, I incorporate many finger exercises, scales and etudes in the teaching of technique. I find it necessary to go over with a student (especially a beginning student) how to practice the material on their own. Most students are not taught how to practice, which is the only way to improve. Teaching a student how to work through difficult rhythms is never overlooked. Read More

My methods vary between each student. For beginning students, that are not learning in a school setting, I typlically start with Hal Lenard's Essential Elements For Band. Once the student had progressed, I will start to introduce solo repetoire that the student will be instested in, which could be pop tunes or other type of music.
