For beginning students, I always start by learning the notes on the staff that corresponds with their specific instrument. Knowledge and confidence of this is crucial to the learning process. Next, I pick a method book to work through to learn the fundamentals. For trombone, I use Rubank's "Elementary Method." I hold a Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance from Long Island University C.W Post and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education K-12 from Manhattanville College. I am in my third year as the Director of local High School Marching Band as well as a sitting member of the New York State Field Band Conference Executive Council as a Representative.
